In Laurel’s 20-month HVAC technician degree program, you’ll learn to design, install or repair heating, central air conditioning, HVAC, or refrigeration systems, including oil burners, hot-air furnaces, and heating stoves.

Skills Development
- Complete basic measuring tasks and math calculations required in the building trades workplace
- Identify common rigging equipment and procedures used on a construction site
- Read common construction drawings and plans
- Understand and read construction drawings
- Prepare, soldering, and brazing copper tubing safety
- Measure, cut, ream, thread, install, and join steep pipe in HVAC projects
Our courses are designed to prepare students to work with equipment following safety standards and protocols, to develop skills required for entry-level employment as a technician in the HVAC industry.
Most homes, workplaces and dining or entertainment spots have heat and air conditioning. Most also have refrigerators, freezers and ice makers. There is an obvious need for qualified technicians in this field, and the industry is focused on keeping people comfortable, their drinks cold and their food preserved. Laurel combines classroom-style education with simulated on-the-job hands-on learning to prepare you for what a career servicing a variety of different types of equipment will be like once you graduate.
